Snow, cold and Arctic light.
Our winter stays run from late January to late April, when snow covers the Far North and the light returns. Eight days as a small private group, family or friends, with or without children, to live the Arctic winter at everyone’s pace: winter sports, fjord fishing, reindeer and, when the sky is clear, the northern lights.
No stopwatch excursions like the big tour operators in Tromsø: we take our time, you choose your days and they evolve as the stay goes on.

Winter activities
We plan the programme with you before you arrive, then adapt it each day to the weather, the light and your wishes.

Snowshoeing
Walks through the forest and up the hills, open to everyone, to discover Arctic snow and animal tracks.

Cross-country skiing
An introduction to cross-country skiing, Norway’s national sport, on quiet tracks, even for beginners.

Ski touring
Climbing with skis and skins and skiing off-piste, for those who want to go further.

Mountain climbs
Climbing small snowy mountains suited to your group, with views over the fjords and islands of Troms.

Winter fjord fishing
A winter fishing trip on the fjord for cod or saithe, and the fun of cooking your own catch together.

Ice fishing on a lake
Fishing through the ice of a mountain lake as a family: a great moment of patience and laughter.

Senja panorama tour
Two days on the road around Senja, its viewpoints, fjords and fishing villages under the snow.

Reindeer herders
Meet one or more local reindeer herders, depending on their availability.

Northern lights
When the sky is clear, we head away from the lights to look for the aurora, which can never be guaranteed.
A typical week in winter
This programme is only an example: every week is built with you, and the order of the days follows the weather, the light and availability. The four high-standard dinners are spread through the week, and good snacks come along on every outing.
- Day 1
Arrival
Pick-up at Bardufoss Airport, settling into the house by the fjord, a first walk and a welcome dinner.
- Day 2
Snowshoes and forest
Snowshoe outing, reading animal tracks, a pulk sled for the little ones. In the evening, aurora watch if the sky is clear.
- Day 3
Reindeer herders
Meeting a reindeer herder, a meal around the fire, sledging and snow games for the children.
- Days 4 and 5
Senja panorama tour
Two days on the island of Senja: viewpoints, snowy beaches, fishing villages and mountains plunging into the sea.
- Day 6
Winter fishing
Fishing on the fjord or through the ice of a lake, then cooking the catch of the day together.
- Day 7
Skiing and a small summit
Cross-country or ski touring, climbing a small summit, then a farewell dinner.
- Day 8
Departure
A last breakfast facing the fjord and transfer back to Bardufoss Airport.
Here, children feel at home
We live here with our own little girl: families with young children, even toddlers, are at the heart of Tundra Camp. Everything is ready so they enjoy it as much as the grown-ups.
- In winter: a pulk sled to pull the children on outings, small skis, sledges and lots of snow games.
- In summer: the vegetable garden, a trampoline, a small zip line, the beach and berry picking.
- All year: toys and equipment for toddlers at the house, and a pace adapted to every age.

High-standard dinners and Danish platters
Our four high-standard dinners are cooked by us with organic, local produce: reindeer, moose, cod, saithe, salmon, wild berries and vegetables from Sandvika garden.
Danish-born Dorthe also prepares generous gourmet platters from her home country, including the famous smørbrød, beautifully topped rye-bread open sandwiches.

The same spirit, summer or winter
Whatever the season, every 8-day stay is built on the same foundation, designed for your private group:
